The dusty, grimy faces of the off road racing gods didn’t smile on Motorite Racing’s Evan Hutchison and Darryl Curtis (BAT Spec 3) in the 4x4 Mega World 400 on Saturday.  The fifth round of the Absa Off Road Car Championship was a fast and dusty affair with the high water table in the area throwing up some difficult mud obstacles that caught out some of the more high profile competitors.

Reigning class A7 champions Evan Hutchison and Elvene Coetzee found the going tough in last weekend’s Osram Rally in the Eastern Cape, bringing their Motorite Racing class S2000 Volkswagen Polo home in 12^th place overall and 12^th in class.

Evan Hutchison and Darryl Curtis’s debut as a team in the Motorite Racing BAT Spec 3 in the recent Sun City 400 in July didn’t quite turn out as expected and the pair will be looking to make amends in this weekend’s (August 27 and 28) 4x4 Mega World 400.

Consolidation will be the name of the game for Special Vehicle championship leaders Shameer Variawa and Siegfried Rousseau at the 4x4 Mega World 400 at Carnival City on August 27 and 28.
